| After
spending $15k on "systems", and blowing $60k trading them, I
stumbled upon "The Brainwashing of the American Investor". I
started trading [the strategy] in November '05. In the first year I've had
50 winners and zero realized losers! This can change your life! It certainly
changed my trading career. Thanks. (D K, OK, 12/22/06)
No one else here (in Australia) talks about trading the way I’ve learned from the (Brainwashing) book so it’s a solitary existence. I’ve taken profits on six stocks over the past ten days as the market has rallied. A couple of times I’ve taken a quicker profit than 10%. The Working Capital philosophy fits hand in glove with the trading strategy & it’s gratifying to see WC grow. I trade for a living so I’m more interested now in comparing realized profits to the wage my wife brings home. If I’m doing at least as well, we’re OK. This is a far more real life situation than a comparison to a meaningless index. And, I know I’ve certainly grown to LOVE volatility (especially those crazy zigzag charts the trend traders hate!) (G M, Australia, 01/10/06) Since I made my first purchase in 2002, I've made 106 purchases and sold 86 of them, all except four at a profit. Although its a little hard to calculate the profit percent because I've intermittently added more money to the account, it's somewhere in the range of 27% over the eighteen month period. Considering that I made my first purchase near the beginning of what I've heard described as "the worst period for the stock market since WWII," and considering that before I'd read "The Brainwashing of the American Investor", I had never purchased an individual stock in my life, I'd say that ain't bad. (M S., Norwalk, CT, 01/26/03) I started following the methodology in March 2002, just before the market collapse. I was able to minimize the damage because I had begun to diversify my holdings. Despite the market's implosion, I began to make money off stocks I purchased based on "strict criteria" found in the book. I was encouraged by the intelligence and logic behind the methodology. I started VERY slowly and carefully. To date, I have yet to make less than 10% on any stock I have sold. (L S., East Hampton, NY, January, '03) I have have enjoyed several profitable trades using your system in a very short time; I am extremely satisfied with your approach. It seems to me to be the clearest way to make money in the market and keep it. Your methods present a sane, lifetime approach to trading that I only wish I had found 20 years ago. (M L, MA, 11/28/04) I bought the book last year...made $50,000 doing it like the book said...my CPA was not happy! (J T, Grapevine, TX (02/11/04) |

More about the Spreadsheet(s)...there are three levels! |
|||
| The Merritt Investor's
Spreadsheet (MIS) is a straightforward, twelve-column, spreadsheet
containing the day’s "Watch List" of all high-quality NYSE stocks that
could meet or exceed the investment criteria outlined in "The Brainwashing
of the American Investor" during the next trading day. All that’s left for you to do is to
create your own "Buy List", and to keep an eye on the changing prices
using your own broker, an on-line financial website, or one of the two
more advanced versions of the MIS. You decide when and what to buy. You
decide when to take your profits.
The Merritt Spreadsheets are designed for investors who want to implement the specific methodology documented in "The Brainwashing of the American Investor: the Book that Wall Street does not want YOU to Read!" We recommend that you obtain the book and study it carefully before using any of the spreadsheets.

Reviewed By: Mark K. LL.B, CFP, FCSI; Toronto, Canada "I'm an "investment advisor" in Canada and am enjoying your book. | I am using the Watchlist program. I have been using your system for 1 1/2 years now. Made about 22% last year. I think your system works great if followed correctly. I have tried quite a few strategies, but this is the one I am sticking with and makes the most common sense. (Butch S, 06/05) | |||
